Pistils Ornamentals
Offering a distinctive selection of plants that perform well in our unique Pacific Northwest climate and providing expert advice for their care and maintenance is the heart-and-soul of the vision behind Pistils Nursery.
Plant with Love
What sets Pistils apart from other local nurseries is our truly diverse offering of flora and the extra-special attention we pay to every plant in our inventory —
from the tried-and-true, hardy native to the unusual and exciting specimen to the alluring water plant. We’re gardeners first-and-foremost and like to mix it up. So, from year-to-year or even month-to-month, you’re sure to find something you haven’t seen before at Pistils. And we’re always open to suggestions.
We Buy Local
If we’ve learned anything in the six years since we opened our mom-and-pop retail nursery, it’s the importance of supporting small, local growers. At Pistils, we’re committed to sourcing the vast majority of the plants we buy-in from a carefully selected group of nurseries in the Willamette Valley.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Pistils operates a fully sustainable, organic grow site within a mile of the nursery. Each year, a greater percentage of the plant stock we offer at the nursery comes from our in-house site. To this day, even with all of the hype around organics in recent years,
it’s still difficult to find sustainably grown ornamentals. This is was our primary motivation in starting Pistils and in the years to come, we look forward to expanding our selection of plants grown with the highest regard for sustainable practices.
We’re Here to Help
At Pistils, we pride ourselves on being just as accessible to the needs of the novice as we are to the seasoned master. Over the years, Pistils has become a a place where folks seeking gardening advice and those looking to share their unique experiences come together. And we love that. We always remain enthusiastic to share what we know, but we are even more excited by what we can learn from you.
Native to the Far West, this evergreen gem features urn-shaped flowers and berrylike fruits that attract birds. This is a tough, attractive shrub, thriving in full sun or light shade and requiring little to moderate water.
